KOL Tell us about a turning point in your life.
Byron Katie I was deeply depressed for more than ten years-paranoid, agoraphobic, suicidal, and filled with self-loathing. One morning, in February 1986, I opened my eyes and all that darkness was gone. I was filled with a joy and peace that continue to this day. What I realized in that moment was that when I believed my thoughts, I suffered, and that when I questioned them, I didn't suffer, and that this was true for every human being. That's how The Work was born.

KOL What do you love about teaching?
Byron Katie I love introducing The Work, helping people gain access to their own open-minded existence, seeing them excited at the possibility of not needing to know the future, never needing to know if the universe is friendly but completely trusting that it is and never being let down.

KOL What do you do in your downtime?
Byron Katie I sleep, cook, clean, do the dishes, laugh a lot, pay my bills, talk with my husband, go my own way in everything, and delight in everything that comes my way. I love every thought I think, and that leaves life as the gift, always new.
