Children and Teens at Kripalu

Children must be supervised at all times and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also on-site at Kripalu. Children’s programs meet for morning and afternoon sessions. Families are together at meal times, in the evenings, and overnight. Child-care services are available only for times when parents’ and children’s program schedules differ.

Children’s Housing Rates

(meals included)
Children and teens must be housed with their parent/guardian and in non-dormitory accommodations. Housing for infants and children 4 and under is free. The housing rate for children ages 5–12 is $30 per child per night. When children 12 and under are housed with one adult, the adult pays the single rate for the accommodation. When children are housed with two adults, the adults each pay the shared rate for their accommodation.

In addition to housing, children 12 and under pay the tuition for their program, if they are enrolled in a program. Please call Registration for more information about program and housing options for children.

Teens

In general, Kripalu programs are open to participants 18 years of age and older. Teens aged 16–17 may attend Kripalu R&R accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times in the same workshop. Program and facility use restrictions may apply. Teens pay adult tuition and accommodation rates and are housed in the same guest room as their parent/guardian in non-dormitory accommodations.

Dining Information

  • Breakfast is a silent meal. (Silent dining helps support conscious eating.) There is a small dining room across the hall from the main dining room designated for quiet sharing during breakfast.
  • Meals Kripalu Center serves meals with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. If your child is on a special diet, please bring or purchase the food items your child needs or prefers. We ask that you bring only healthy foods and snacks. (The Kripalu Shop sells a wide selection of healthy snacks and a vending machine is located on the lower level as well.)
  • Snacks Because some children have food allergies, snack food and packing materials are provided in the dining hall during breakfast. Please pack a snack for your child to bring to the program each day. We do not allow gum or candy in the program. Please inform staff if your child has any dietary restrictions or food allergies.
  • Highchairs and booster seats are available in the main dining room.

Kid’s Favorites at Kripalu Center

We recognize that just like adults our younger guests have varying food preferences and degrees of experience with the type of cuisine we serve. While we hope that your children will enjoy trying new foods and experience our main line as delicious, we also want you to be aware of the more traditional options we provide for kids.

Every lunch and dinner includes a sandwich bar with meat option as well as sliced cheese. There is a Panini grill available, so a grilled cheese sandwich is always just a few minutes wait away. We do ask that you do not allow younger children to operate the Panini as it is extremely hot. Also on the side bars at every meal is peanut butter and jelly with both bread and rice cakes. For kids who like very simple foods we offer plain white basmati rice, steamed vegetables, and plain beans at every lunch and dinner on our Buddha Bar. Some kids love having basmati rice and then adding butter, cheese, or peas from the salad bar. In addition to the above, we offer a hot pasta dish every dinner made just for our younger guests. This dish is served separately on a side table immediately to your right when walking in the dining room, except on Tuesday nights when pasta is also available on the main line.

Also available for kids to use are colorful plastic plates and bowls. Our standard ceramic ware can be heavy for younger kids to carry so we encourage you to have your kids use the plastic ware especially if they are taking food outside to eat.
