Gentle Yoga for Every Body
Karen O'Donnell Clarke

With a focus on modifications, breath, and comprehensive warm-ups, Karen's CD offers clear, detailed instruction appropriate for all levels. Recorded in tracks to allow for a customized experience, it includes just over an hour of back, belly-down, and seated postures and an 11-minute relaxation, all of which can be practiced on a bed as well as the floor. Perks for beginners include photographs of the postures in the insert. Available at the Kripalu Shop and through

Meditations in a Contemporary World
Mia Olson, flute; Matt Marvuglio, alto flute

"Playing the flute is about breathing," Mia, a KYTA member, and Matt write in their liner notes—and thus flute music is a perfect accompaniment to the practice of meditation and yoga. The eight tracks on this CD, both calming and transporting, are based on ancient Greek modes. Also try Mia's other CDs, Images, for flute and guitar, and Sombrio, for flute and piano. Available at the Kripalu Shop.

The Gentle Series: Gentle II
Rudy Peirce

Rudy's follow-up to his popular Gentle Series emphasizes the synchronizing of movement and breath, creating a relaxing, mindful experience. The 78-minute CD includes comprehensive warm-ups and postures including Mountain, Spinal Twist, and Half Locust as well as abdominal breathing and Breath of Joy. Ideal for beginners, the CD features an insert detailing the intention, benefits, and precautions of yoga practice. With a soundtrack by Mark Kelso. Available at the Kripalu Shop.

Sacred Awakening
Lisa Temoshok

Deep relaxation coupled with alert awareness is the goal of Yoga Nidra, a goal Lisa beautifully accomplishes with a guided experience that includes a body scan, affirmations, color visualizations, and chanting. The CD also features a centering and a section of gentle movement, after which practitioners can pause the disc to insert their own pranayama or asana sequences before returning to the 28-minute Yoga Nidra practice and closing. Available at or 518-256-2710.

5+ Tibetans
Pierre Belisle

Also known as the Rejuvenation Rites or the Fountain of Youth, the Five Tibetans are rites for strengthening and energizing the physical and emotional bodies. Pierre's DVD features a full guided experience and a tutorial section with easy-to-follow directions for whirling, leg raises, the Camel pose, crab lifts, and Upward and Downward Dog as well as a sixth exercise, uddiyana bandha.
