Journaling for Health: Guided Meditations for Writing and Relaxation
Lori Batcheller

The unbeatable combination of writing, healing, and relaxing will allow you to experience greater well-being as you take your journaling to a new and deeper place. A seasoned journal writer, yoga teacher, and author of Journey to Health: Writing Your Way to Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Well-Being, Lori Batcheller begins this hour-long CD with a guided relaxation and mental imagery scan, preparing practitioners to put pen to paper. Guided writing exercises encourage listeners to recapture and reflect on memories; access the wisdom of their inner healer; and create a “wellness kit” that can be used throughout the day. The insert includes tips on how to make the most of your journal writing.

Compassionate Yoga: Slow & Easy
Juanita Carra-Budzek

“Relax” and “enjoy” are the key words in this gentle practice with Juanita, a registered nurse, Kripalu Yoga teacher, and yoga therapist. The CD includes half an hour of warm-ups, half an hour of asana, and a lovely 17-minute relaxation. Juanita’s voice is soothing and clear, her directions are easy to follow for practitioners of all ages and abilities, and she calls attention to breath and awareness throughout the experience. Music is by Todd Norian from Deep Peace.

Get Fit Where You Sit: Single Chair Yoga, Volume I
Lakshmi Voelker

Targeted to office workers, frequent flyers, and those with limited mobility, this DVD offers two complete Chair Yoga classes—an energizing series to boost pep and confidence, and a balancing series to improve stability and focus. In her conversational, down-to-earth style, Lakshmi leads a handful of postures and pranayama in each series, including seated versions of Staff, Spinal Twist, Tree, Breath of Joy, and more. What makes this DVD uniquely user-friendly are the two options Lakshmi provides for each series—a 35-minute step-by-step routine and a 10-minute routine with less explanation—and the three versions of each posture she offers, for low, moderate, and high flexibility. The DVD also includes a 7-minute relaxation done with pillows in your chair.

The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself
Michael A. Singer

In his new book, Michael Singer—founder of the yoga and meditation center Temple of the Universe—takes a radical approach: rather than cite the wisdom of others, he invites the reader to discover a source of wisdom and clarity within. This source is not the inner monologue (what he calls “the voice inside your head” or “your inner roommate”) but rather the center of awareness and observation—“the seat of Self.” With humor, frankness, and real-life examples, Michael explores the concepts of infinite energy, addresses fear and samskaras, and assures us that the freedom and happiness that comes from letting go is accessible to us all. Shobhan Richard Faulds calls The Untethered Soul “a remarkably lucid guide to the world of consciousness, mindfulness, and the deeper aspects of spirituality.”
