Griselda Alvarez Sesma

Griselda Alvarez Sesma, Curandera, has been in private practice as a teacher and curandera for more than 20 years. Born in Mexico, she was deeply influenced by the healing work of her aunt, a curandera, and an uncle who was a well-known bonesetter. Her principal training has been with Yaqui/Lacandon Maya Elder Tezcalci Matorral Cachora of Mexico. She is an adjunct professor at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona, and collaborates with physicians to integrate western allopathic medicine with traditional Mesoamerican healing. A leader in the Latina community, she was the recipient of a prestigious fellowship awarded by the National Hispana Leadership Institute in 1993. www.curanderismo.org
