Maria Broom

Maria Broom is a story dancer and long-ago dance shaman who brings out the dancer in everyone. Widely known as an actress for her roles in the HBO series The Wire and The Corner, she is also a celebrated dance artist and teacher extraordinaire who has taught and performed throughout the world. Her background in dance therapy, meditation, Homa therapy, and yoga, combined with her training in many cultural dances, make her workshops and presentations unique and deeply healing. A Fulbright scholar, former television newscaster, storyteller, and OSI Fellow, Maria currently teaches at the Baltimore School for the Arts and is a touring artist for Young Audiences of Maryland. www.mariabroom.com
