Michelle Apland is a scholar of women’s empowerment through wilderness experience and the director of Flying Deer Nature Center, an organization dedicated to fostering connection between individuals and the earth, each other, and their authentic selves. She has led a variety of wilderness programs, rites of passage for adolescent girls, and community-oriented nature programs for women over the past 10 years. Michelle is a Kripalu Yoga teacher and a vision-fast guide. In her teaching, she draws from her training in wilderness skills at the Tracker School, her bachelor’s degrees in environmental education and ecopsychology, her through-hike of the Appalachian Trail, and her passionate personal relationship with nature.
