Root Cuthbertson

DJ Root studied ethnomusicology, modern dance, contact improvisation, authentic movement, and world religions at Oberlin College before becoming a resident DJ for Dance Spree in 1997. He traveled the world DJing for barefoot freestyle dances and eventually returned to his hometown of Northampton, Massachusetts where he began hosting The Melting Point, a weekly world-music radio program, and founded both Groove Paradise Productions and Dance Spirit. He has assisted Toni Bergins with JourneyDance™ teacher trainings since 2004. In 2010, Root offered his first training for DJs to serve as guides for dancers moving through a sequence of songs as a spiritual practice. www.grooveparadise.com and www.dancespirit.org
