Maryelaine “Mel” Sotos, MS, RD, LDN, is a nutritionist with training in nutrition science, nutrigenomics, food science, and functional foods. She completed both her graduate level education and a dietetic internship at Texas State, San Marcos, earning her Masters of Human and Molecular Nutrition.
Mel is an avid runner who, during her studies, developed an interest in nutrition for sports performance. After being plagued with illnesses and multiple stress fractures, she was diagnosed with Celiac disease. Changes in her diet created positive changes in her heath and from that point forward, her perspective on nutrition shifted and she pursued a career in nutrition science.
Before joining Kripalu, Mel worked for an integrative medicine practitioner in her hometown of Austin, Texas, and had a private practice specializing in the nutritional rehabilitation of people with food sensitivities and allergies and individuals with eating disorders/disordered eating.
