The great yoga sage Patanjali defined asana as “a posture that is stable and easeful.” Zen master Dogen taught that sitting meditation is “the dharma gate of ease and joy.” But how can we experience the deep ease these masters describe when our bodies are so often filled with tension and pain?
This retreat teaches a comprehensive, integrated practice of Mindfulness Yoga, applying the Buddha’s teachings on mindfulness and conscious breathing to the movements and postures of hatha yoga. Practicing in this way, we enter the stillness at the heart of movement where body, mind, and spirit are joined. Through asana practice designed to open stiff hips, strengthen sore backs, and relax tense shoulder and neck muscles, we also cultivate deeper self-awareness and freedom.
In order to end the cycle of reactivity that leads to aversion, stress, and suffering, we need to look within. Learn ways to break this cycle and respond creatively and freely to life as it unfolds.
