Program Details

For yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and yoga students.

Yoga injuries are a hot topic these days. Yoga teachers, therapists, and students want to know which poses are most likely to cause injuries, and how to teach and practice those poses safely. A survey of 33,000 yoga teachers and therapists from 52 countries showed that the majority of yoga injuries occur in classes rather than home practice. What can you do to make your yoga classes and personal practice safer?

Medical doctor Loren Fishman and yoga therapist Terry Schaff treat people with yoga injuries at Manhattan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in New York City. In this workshop, they look at common yoga injuries such as herniated discs, rotator cuff tears, cervical injuries, knee injuries, SI joint derangement, and hamstring tears. They explore when these injuries tend to occur, how to treat them, and how to avoid yoga injuries altogether. Loren and Terry have even found ways to treat yoga injuries using yoga!
