Applications

Thank you for your interest in the Kripalu School of Ayurveda. We rely on information provided in the application to make informed decisions about your capacity to fully participate in and benefit from all aspects of the program. Please answer the questions honestly and completely. Providing inaccurate or incomplete information may result in nonacceptance or removal from the program.

Applications are reviewed as soon as they are received. Be sure to include a $25 application fee or remit it as soon as possible after completing the online application. You will be notified by e-mail (or regular mail if not e-mail is provided) as soon as your application has been processed. Please note that sending an application does not guarantee a place in the program. Please apply well in advance.

Admissions Criteria

Admission to the program is determined on a rolling basis. We strongly recommend that applicants submit applications as soon as possible.

To apply to the Foundations of Ayurveda program, the Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant Certification, or the Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Certification, please do the following:

  1. Review information on program dates, costs, faculty, curricula, and general information about Kripalu on our website.
  2. Complete the attached program application in its entirety, including the short-answer questions. Be sure to indicate preferred program dates. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
  3. Submit the $25 application processing fee by check or credit card. Checks can be made payable to Kripalu Center. For international applicants, checks must be drawn on a domestic bank. If you prefer to make a payment by credit card, please call 800-848-8702.
  4. Wait for a letter from Kripalu clarifying our admissions decision. This letter should arrive by e-mail within two weeks of the date of receipt of your application. If you do not have an e-mail address, we will send it by regular mail and will also call you to inform you of your status. Kripalu reserves the right to also require a phone interview if deemed necessary to arrive at an admissions decision.

General Requirements
You must be at least 18 years of age, demonstrate English-language competency, and have received a high school diploma or GED.

Prior Coursework/training
For Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant Certification applicants, you must complete two semesters or 100 hours of college-level anatomy and physiology preferably prior to program start. However, anatomy and physiology requirements may be completed concurrently with the Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant training if necessary. Please note that anatomy and physiology requirements must be completed to receive certification. For a list of suggested courses, please contact us at 800-848-8702 or ksya@kripalu.org.

For Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Certification applicants, you must provide proof of 200-hour yoga teacher certification from a Yoga Alliance–approved school.

Physical, Mental, and Emotional Preparedness
The intensive nature of the program is physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. To be admitted to the School of Ayurveda, you must demonstrate medical and mental-health readiness to fully participate in the demands of the curriculum. Additionally, an applicant may be denied if it is determined that his/her participation would in any way jeopardize a safe and cohesive learning environment. The Professional Trainings Admissions Committee may request additional documentation and/or clinical evaluations to evaluate medical and/or mental-health preparedness.

Kripalu Yoga Experience
We prefer that students have some personal experience with Kripalu Yoga prior to taking this training. Classes and workshops with a Kripalu Yoga teacher provide this experiential background. To find a Kripalu Yoga teacher near you, visit www.kripalu.org/find_a_teacher. If you do not have access to Kripalu Yoga classes where you live, you can experience Kripalu Yoga at home by purchasing one of the following videos: Kripalu Yoga Dynamic with Stephen Cope or Kripalu Yoga Gentle with Sudha Carolyn Lundeen, available for purchase online at shop.kripalu.org or in the Kripalu Shop.
