DEEPEN YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF FASCIAL HEALTH
Feel more in tune with your body and explore how fascial health relates to states of mind while becoming certified in self-myofascial release (SMFR)—a somatic, embodied practice that enhances mind-body awareness, interoception, and nervous system balance.
Join psychologist, educator, and experienced yoga teacher Diane Malaspina as she guides you through daily guided practices that demonstrate a variety of uses and sequences for self-myofascial release. Through hands on experience, lecture, discussions, and practice teaching, you will learn:
- Connective tissue anatomy, purpose, and facial trains
- Uses of SMFR in and outside of yoga classes including contraindications and benefits
- The cycle of repetitive injury and ways SMFR supports healing
- Tools and modifications for student accessibility
- The continuum of techniques and related purposes
- Cueing, demonstrating, observing, and sequencing
- Guided practices to experience the embodiment of the techniques
NOTE Participants will have an optional homework assignment (required to receive the certificate) that involves creating a sequence and practicing it regularly to experience the benefits of consistent practice. They will also receive a digital manual. Upon certification, this training is eligible for 20 hours of continuing education credit for yoga teachers registered with Yoga Alliance.
