The New Saints From Broken Hearts to Spiritual Warriors

EXPLORING THE PATH AS WARRIORS EMERGING FROM OUR BROKEN HEARTS

How do you become a new saint? No matter how they are named in a given tradition—saints, spiritual warriors, bodhisattvas, zaddikim—they all share a profound altruistic wish to free others from suffering. Saints, however, are not beings of stained glass or carved stone.

Join international influencer, activist, and Black Buddhist Southern Queen, Lama Rod, and learn how we can collectively shape the future if we have the willingness to let our hearts break open, disrupt systems of violence, and let deep, authentic care guide our actions“Each of us can be a new saint,” says Lama Rod Owens. “In our pain, our trauma, and all our complexity, we all can—and must—awaken the virtue of our compassion for the benefit of our communities, our planet, and our own souls.”

Through meditation, breathwork, visualizations, simple somatic movement exercises, and discussion, you will:

  • Gain an ethical framework to deepen your practice.
  • Explore how to integrate social change work into your spiritual practice.
  • Become a warrior of kindness—a refreshed human, serving a vision of a world shaped by love.

Lama Rod—who is regularly featured on the Calm app—shares personal stories, spiritual teachings, and instructions for contemplative and somatic practices from his newest book, The New Saints: From Broken Hearts to Spiritual Warriors. These practices reinforce the truth of our interdependency allowing us to be of service to the collective well-being, and to call on the support and strength of the countless beings who share our struggles and hopes.

NOTE This transformative program is suitable for anyone seeking to bridge their spiritual practice with justice work.
