Basic Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training

For yoga teachers who have completed a 200-hour training and midwives/doulas with a strong yoga practice.

Become confident, qualified, and comfortable leading prenatal yoga classes in this training that teaches appropriate asana, assists, pranayama, sounding, and meditation for each stage of pregnancy. Every day of the training begins with a prenatal yoga class in which you wear “pregnant bellies” for each trimester to simulate the experience of moving in a pregnant body. The yoga class is followed by theory, practical application, and practice teaching.

Topics covered in this program include

  • Fetal development
  • Physiological and hormonal changes in the mother’s body during each trimester, and her body’s responses to these changes
  • Pregnancy discomforts during each stage and the yoga practices, non-traditional methods, and traditional techniques that can alleviate these discomforts.

Jacci Gruninger also offers tips on labor and birth, partner prenatal yoga, and how to market your classes.

Note Only participants with a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification can teach prenatal yoga; this course provides 32 CE credits for Yoga Alliance.

Jacci Gruninger, E-RYT 500, RPYT, C-IAYT, is a Santa Fe-based yoga teacher and educator who completed her 200-hour training while in her fifth month of pregnancy.
