Camp Kula Five Days, Three Teachers, Total Immersion

For students who have practiced regularly for at least two years and all yoga teachers of all styles.

It’s summer camp for adults! We’ve nixed the wedgies and mean girls of yesteryear and replaced them with an eclectic mix of yogic studies, feasts in the Kripalu Dining Hall, hikes on wooded Berkshire trails, and long sits in the sauna. We started Camp Kula because we recognized that most New York City yoga practitioners are so consumed by their busy lives that it’s hard to fit in a 90-minute yoga class; and while that class might have some chanting and a bit of pranayama or meditation, the practice is mostly physical.

At Kula, our practice is a vigorous, highly creative form of Vinyasa that focuses mostly on asana, but also includes the esoteric teachings of yoga that have so much to offer. We love offering this program to help dedicated practitioners and teachers go deeper.

Come examine the workings of your physical and subtle self in 12 workshops that explore such diverse topics as bandhas, kriyas, Vedantic philosophy, pranayama, yoga nidra, meditation, and chakra studies, and two sweaty Kula Flow classes daily. There’s even time for a hike down to the lake for a swim and a bonfire!

Expect to laugh, learn, and float home, with your body, mind, and spirit thoroughly worked over and soaring.

Nikki Vilella is a senior teacher at Kula Yoga Project in New York City, co-owner of Kula Williamsburg and Kula Soho, and director of Kula's 200-hour teacher training program.

Alex Auder, a native New Yorker who grew up in the Chelsea Hotel, is director of Magu Yoga in Philadelphia.
