Creative Boot Camp A Craft Lab and Writing Workshop

For everyone.

If you feel stuck with your creative work, are ready to move beyond the draft stage, or have always wanted to try your hand at fiction, this program is an opportunity to dive in and make significant progress on a single piece of long-form writing.

• Writing workshops
• Craft-lab sessions
• Creative work recommendations

Through a mix of writing workshops and craft-lab sessions, novelists Nellie Hermann and Chris Adrian help you target specific issues through guided readings and focused short writing exercises. Lisa Weinert, a publicist, editor, and literary agent,  shares insights into the publishing process. The program also offers

  • Tools for creative play
  • Opportunities for feedback from peers and from major literary voices
  • Important practical tips for bringing your stories into the world.

Kripalu’s serene and nourishing surroundings foster creative contemplation, empowering you to move beyond boundaries and barriers you have been struggling with (or anticipating) in your writing. Return home with new tools and insights to move toward a finished work.

Note Please identify the story you want to work on during this program (no more than 20 pages in length), as well as any obstacles that might be in your way in writing or completing the story, and email it to both ngh2101@columbia.edu and cadrian@chla.usc.edu by 5:00 pm, April 1st.
