Fly-Fishing and Mindfulness Weekend

For all levels.

Learn the art and science of fly-fishing with Berkshire Rivers Fly Fishing founder Harry Desmond. This form of fishing ultimately relies on building an intimate relationship with nature—one that requires deep study of your surroundings, including temperature; solar and lunar cycles; and wind, weather, and water conditions.

In this program, Harry guides you in developing mindfulness for the environment, teaching you how to focus on the present moment in order to be a more successful fly-fisher. Other topics include

  • River conservation and fishing ethics
  • Being mindful of fishing and the environment
  • Equipment tutorials and casting techniques on the Kripalu lawn or lakefront
  • Knot tying and fly making
  • An overview of common Northeast fly species.

Return home armed with new mindfulness and fishing skills, and your own handmade fishing flies.

Read more about Harry's philosophy on the yoga of fly-fishing.

Note This is a classroom-based program that may include some outdoor practice on the Kripalu lawn or at the Kripalu lakefront. Berkshire Rivers Fly Fishing practices catch and release only.
