Freeing the Heart of the Artist

For everyone.

Free the artist in your heart to joyfully create the masterpiece that is your life with your full awareness and vitality. Join artists, educators, and intrepid explorers of consciousness Sally Taylor and Eliza Lay Ryan for an adventure that blends creative self-expression and contemplative practice, teaching you new ways to think, feel, and see the world.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Creativity
  • Self-expression
  • Nourishment

When you learn to think like an artist, you increase your access to creativity, empathy, curiosity, and meaning-making. This gives you a fresh way of approaching life that you can fold effortlessly into your everyday existence to energize your relationship with yourself, others, and the world.

In this this nourishing, colorful, and playful program, you learn to create, communicate, and see through the lenses of different artistic mediums, think metaphorically, and experiment with the practices that actors use to access the deep presence and spontaneous flexibility required to stand in other people’s shoes. You have space and inspiration to write, draw, make music, move, imagine, reflect, and just be. This cornucopia of creative expression and exploration enlivens your senses, awakens your whole self, and provides you with indispensable tools for life.

Once the artist in your heart is free, every person, place, idea, or thing you encounter becomes a catalyst for inspiration. You can explore who you are and who you might be through every medium. The weekend includes a field trip to MASS MoCA to visit Sally’s Come to Your Senses exhibit, engage with the exhibit creatively, and deepen your learning on the short trip there and back.

Note Saturday afternoon’s session, approximately 1:00–5:00 pm, is a guided tour of Sally’s ConSenses installation at Mass MOCA. Tuition includes museum and transportation fees.
