Patricia Gerbarg, MD, assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at New York Medical College, is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute. She practices Integrative Psychiatry, combining standard and complementary treatments. Her research focuses on mind-body practices for veterans and survivors of mass disasters such as the Southeast Asia tsunami, the 9/11 attacks, and the Gulf oil spill. With Richard P. Brown, she coauthored The Healing Power of the Breath; How to Use Herbs, Nutrients, and Yoga in Mental Health Care; and Non-Drug Treatments for ADHD. Her chapter “Yoga and Neuro-Psychoanalysis” appeared in Bodies in Treatment: The Unspoken Dimension.
