Retreat to Spirit Trauma Conscious Yoga Training

AN INTERACTIVE WELLNESS RECOVERY TRAINING

Join cofounders of Retreat to Spirit, Amina Naru and Pamela Stokes Eggleston, and wellness expert Kwasi Boaitey for The  Retreat to Spirit: Trauma Concious Yoga Training. Distinct from other trauma trainings, this 20-hour training is led by facilitators who share from their lived experiences of trauma related to incarceration, gender based, racialized, PTSD, sexual trauma, historic, and intergenerational trauma. Their approach to trauma conscious yoga is steeped in cultural sensitivity, compassion, and knowledge of the nervous system and the brain as they relate to trauma.

Through hatha and restorative yoga, meditation, breathwork, and more, you will

  • Discover a deeper understanding of yourself in relation to the yamas and niyamas.
  • Learn how traunma affects the body, nervous system, brain, and spirit.
  • Examine trauma through the lens of social justice.
  • Expand your toolkit with ways to address trauma and heal yourself in the process.

Upon completion of this program, you will be able to

  • Create compassionate spaces for those affected by trauma
  • Reflect upon your own trauma and triggers in a deep, substantive way
  • Develop meaningful partnerships within communities of service.

This experiential training will provide the framework for an embodied practice that can be taught in a wide range of  traumatized communities. It is suitable for anyone who is teaching or interested in teaching yoga to people and communities who have experienced trauma.
