S. A. F. E. Yoga for Skeletal Health

For health, exercise, and movement professionals; interested yoga practitioners and the public are welcome.

Foster safety, health, and strength for you and your students as you learn the basics of osteoporosis identification and management. Then, discover how the principles of movement in S. A. F. E. (Skeletally Appropriate for Everyone) Yoga can be applied on your mat, in daily life, and in your yoga and exercise classes.

Join Sara Meeks (Dipa), a physical therapist for 55 years and Kripalu Yoga teacher since 1984, as she leads you through Meeks’ Yoga Prep, modified yoga postures, and movement for better bone health.

In this program, you learn

  • Meeks’ Yoga prep and S. A. F. E. Yoga to elongate and strengthen the spine
  • The best and simplest exercise for most back pain
  •  Balancing poses and exercises to strengthen the hips and minimize risk of falls and fractures
  • Breathing techniques to strengthen the core and ribs and facilitate movement
  • Core-strengthening exercises
  • Early-morning yoga classes you can take home and use right away
  • A safety code for better choices in yoga practice
  • Practice teaching and critiques to improve your practice and instructions.
