A Slow Flow Introduction to the FUNdamentals of Ashtanga Yoga

For all levels, but oriented primarily toward beginners or experienced enthusiasts looking for a step-by-step slow flow presentation.

This weekend is a true introduction to Ashtanga, created by David Swenson specifically for those looking for a compassionate yet fun-filled way to begin the journey or revisit the foundations.

David presents the building blocks of Ashtanga through the five elements of practice: breath, bandhas, drishti, asana, and vinyasa. He breaks down the Sun Salutations into phases and reassembles them step-by-step, connecting breath with movement to compassionately build the rhythmic dance of the Ashtanga flow. This concept is also applied to the asanas and vinyasas, with David offering alternatives and a slower pace than usual.

Gain a taste of this sweet, dynamic, flowing system as presented by one of the world’s most renowned and beloved instructors. You’ll leave with a smile on your face and the foundation to start your Ashtanga Yoga practice.

Note Seasoned Ashtanga practitioners may find the pace and rhythm of this program to be too slow and basic for their liking, however the weekend is open to anyone who wishes to come and enjoy this mellow informative exploration of the fundamentals of the practice. This program is held in a slightly heated room.
