Yoga, Music, and Mindfulness A Unique Kripalu-Tanglewood Experience

For everyone; no technical expertise or prior training in music is required, simply a love for classical music and yoga.

Double the pleasure of a summer weekend in the Berkshires with this rewarding Kripalu-Tanglewood experience. Join Kripalu’s Larissa Hall Carlson and the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s (BSO) Marc Mandel to explore the striking parallels between yoga and music, discovering not only what draws us to music, but also how music draws us into an ever-deepening awareness of ourselves and our relationship with others.

Program sessions incorporate mindful asana, breathwork, meditation, and guided listening to classical music featured in the weekend’s Saturday-night and Sunday-afternoon BSO concerts at Tanglewood (just across the road from Kripalu). This program includes attendance at both BSO concerts, which feature a performance by violinist Joshua Bell, music of Leonard Bernstein marking the centennial of his birth, and popular works by Sibelius and Prokofiev. Pre- and post-concert discussions focus on how we perceive music and how we respond both individually and collectively to the experience of concert-going.

Note Complimentary lawn tickets to Tanglewood will be provided for both BSO concerts, with the possibility, subject to availability, of complimentary, reserved indoor seating. For those wanting to ensure reserved seating, a 30 percent discount for tickets inside Tanglewood’s Koussevitzky Music Shed is available to program participants who purchase them through the BSO no later than July 20 (details to be provided upon registration).
