Living with Loss How to Cultivate a Daily Grief Practice Using the Grief Mentor Method

HONOR YOUR GRIEF
Grief is not a problem to be solved; it is an experience to be honored. Yet most of us have been taught to minimize, manage, or rush through loss. Unresolved grief is a public health crisis, and we are living in a grief-illiterate culture. Whether navigating death, divorce, career transitions, or collective losses, people are carrying deep pain without a map for metabolizing it. The Grief Mentor Method offers a trauma-informed, body-centered path forward.
This five-day immersive retreat invites participants into a radically compassionate framework for grieving rooted in the Grief Mentor Method. Co-led by psychotherapist, author, and podcast host Meghan Riordan Jarvis, MA, LICSW and author, spiritual leader, entrepreneur, and storyteller John Onwuchekwa, this course combines neuroscience, somatic regulation, storytelling, and reflective inquiry to provide a holistic approach to learning to carry loss. Through guided practice, deep conversation, movement, and ritual, guests practice living and grieving with their whole selves—body, mind, and spirit.
The Grief Mentor Method equips you with a core understanding of how and why it is so important to grieve as a verb. You will get a deep dive into the GMM's six core components (mindfulness, energy, nourishment, translation, outside, and ritual and rest) through lecture, experiential exercises, and group processes. You will leave campus with a list of activities that best support your grief practice and a plan for how to begin the work.
Leave with:
- A practical framework for understanding and supporting your own grief
- Tools for nervous system regulation and emotional processing
- New language for expressing complex emotions
- A community of witness and support
- Renewed clarity, capacity, and self-compassion
You will experience a carefully curated mix of learning and embodiment:
- Daily teachings based on the Grief Mentor Method
- Guided somatic and mindfulness practices
- Reflective journaling and small group processing
- Nature-based rituals and contemplative silence
- Storytelling, laughter, rest, and reverence
This retreat is for anyone navigating loss, recent or decades old. It is open to individuals, clinicians, clergy, caregivers, and anyone curious about healing. Whether you're grieving a person, a version of yourself, or the world as you knew it, this space is for you. No previous experience with grief work is required.
This is not a workshop that rushes to fix grief. It is a sacred pause where transformation can begin. Please join us.
