Compassion Cultivation

Ways to care for yourself and your community

Live with More Meaning, Purpose, and Joy

Compassion isn't heroic. It's human and rooted in science. Compassion is an innate quality that allows us to respond to suffering with understanding, patience, and kindness rather than fear, anger, and repulsion.

While compassion is an inherent quality that we all possess, psychology, neuroscience, and clinical medicine show that compassion is also an orientation and skill that can be cultivated and strengthened to increase the well-being of individuals, communities, and society.

Join Tibetan Buddhist scholar, former monk, and cofounder of the Compassion Institute, Dr. Thupten Jinpa, and family physician and certified Compassion Cultivation Teacher, Dr. Shireen Mansouri, for a weekend-long intensive, integrating evidence-based meditation techniques, mind-body practices, interactive discussions, and lectures, as well as real-world exercises to put learning into practice.

While everyone will have their own unique experience, research has shown that compassion training can lead to:

  • Support for your health, happiness, and well-being
  • Reduction of stress, depression, and anxiety
  • Improvements in relating to others and the world

This experiential offering will dive deep into topics such as loving-kindness, self-compassion, relating to difficult people, and cultivating compassion for others.

Return home with practical skills to care for yourself and your community and with a greater understanding of how to lead with compassion in your everyday life—allowing you to live with more meaning, purpose, and joy.

NOTE: This intensive weekend offers Continuing Education (CE) credits and provides eight credited hours toward Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT).
