Breathe Better
Master your breath
Increase Resilience to Stress
Become the master of your breathing, the maestro of your health.
Traditionally, yoga classes begin or end with pranayama techniques. Breathing is given little attention in poses beyond being told when to inhale and exhale. True functional breathing is more than inhaling and exhaling from an external cue—it’s how you’re breathing even beyond the yoga mat.
Your breath can make or break your practice. Your breath can make or break your life.
In this five-day training, you will:
- Understand the difference between breathwork and pranayama.
- Delve into the biochemistry and biomechanics of breathing.
- Learn the science behind traditional yoga breath practices.
- Measure how functional your breathing is.
- Train the respiratory system to be more efficient and imbue the body with more oxygen.
- Increase adaptability and resilience to stress on a cellular level.
- Learn about the relationship between breathing, sleep, and mental health, and how to improve all three.
- Tailor breath training and pranayama into your unique body-mind and yoga asana practice.
- Become a more effective and empowering yoga practitioner or teacher through a more nuanced approach to breathwork.
To improve your functional breathing, this course leverages both traditional pranayama and Oxygen Advantage® techniques as standalone practices and during yoga asana. We will explore ways to improve baseline functional breathing and opportunities to strengthen respiratory health through high-altitude simulation and kumbhaka (breath retention).
This workshop is open to all, including yogis who know that breath is the bridge for true body-mind health and harmony, health enthusiasts looking to fortify this pillar of physical and mental well-being, and yoga teachers. Alongside experiential practice, this workshop will help yoga teachers become better breath educators. You will gain a clear understanding of the science and physiology behind pranayama, bridging traditional wisdom with modern research so breathwork can be taught intentionally and effectively.
