The Heart of Our Yoga Practice
This workshop focuses on the highest goals of yoga practice, which are experience of transcendence and spirituality. These goals are important for personal transformation, inner growth, and improvements in life purpose and meaning. We will engage in practices specifically aimed at fostering transcendental experiences and spirituality.
In our time together, we'll explore something we've witnessed repeatedly in our own journeys and in the lives of countless yoga practitioners: how spirituality isn't separate from our practice—it lives at its very heart. We will examine how your personal yoga practice shapes not just what you do, but who you are. This isn't about adding spirituality onto your professional work—it's about recognizing the spiritual transformation that's already happening within you and learning to honor that in your vocation.
We will share practical approaches for weaving your inner practice with your outer vocation, meeting you exactly where you are. Through real stories from years of teaching—case studies of healing and transformation—we'll explore how spiritual transformation becomes the foundation for authentic, effective healing through yoga.
In this program, we will explore:
- The research behind spirituality and its importance in medicine and society
- The research supporting the facilitation of transcendental experiences and spirituality with yoga practice
- The practices and philosophy of yoga that are related to experiences of transcendence and spirituality
- Specific yoga practices that are believed to foster spiritual transformation and experiences of transcendence
- How our level of consciousness impacts others, which will improve interpersonal relationships
- Yoga teachers and therapists will learn to develop sensitivity to others’ spiritual needs and backgrounds.
- Yoga teachers and therapists will enhance the capacity to hold space for clients from a place of authenticity and presence.
- Tools for sustaining personal yoga practice and nurturing spiritual growth
We will also engage in yoga practices from different lineages that foster spirituality and transcendental experiences. This will include mindfulness and presence, pranayama, mudra, mantra, visualization, yoga nidra, and energetic practices. There will be ample time for group practices and there will be opportunities for students to have personal experiences of spirituality. There will be time for discussion after each practice allowing for integration of experiences. Please join us for this deeply nourishing retreat.
