Announcing a New Addition to Kripalu’s Curriculum

Kripalu is thrilled to welcome Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT) into its curriculum. For more than 20 years, IYT has been bringing together yoga’s most powerful tools—asana, pranayama, mudra, yoga nidra, mantra, and meditation—to create an effective package that can be utilized for therapeutic classes directed toward specific groups and for one-on-one sessions.

IYT is based on a vision of health as a unity of body, mind, and spirit, and yoga is the vehicle that connects this experience of unity. Yoga therapy practitioners provide yoga-based wellness programs to populations such as seniors, expectant mothers, and those grappling with specific health challenges such as back pain, heart disease, cancer, and autoimmune conditions.

The Integrative Yoga Therapy training, developed by Joseph Le Page, is a natural extension of the educational offerings presented by the Kripalu Schools of Yoga and Ayurveda. It complements and enhances Kripalu’s certification programs because yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga. This is in alignment with Kripalu’s mission of empowering people and communities to realize their full potential through the transformative wisdom and practice of yoga. With the addition of the Integrative Yoga Therapy program to its curriculum, the Kripalu Schools will now offer the full spectrum of yoga education—yoga, yoga therapy, and Ayurveda—providing even more tools for a healthy, vibrant life.
