Andrea Hyde

Andrea Hyde, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Western Illinois University, where she teaches courses in social and multicultural foundations of education and education policy and law. She also teaches graduate-level courses in social theory, philosophy of education, and qualitative research, and directs master’s and doctoral theses for her department. A trained yoga teacher, Andrea studies school-based yoga curriculum and teacher training programs, and developed a mindfulness pedagogy for post-secondary education, with connections to philosophy of education and critical social theories. She serves as a consultant for the Yoga in Schools program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
