Anne Cox

Anne Cox is a professor in the Kinesiology Program at Washington State University (WSU) where she has been since 2013. She was a faculty member at Illinois State University from 2006-2013, received her PhD. from Purdue University in 2006 and her MEd from the University of Virginia in 2000. Anne's research has been focused on understanding determinants of physical activity behaviors. She studies how different aspects of body image relate to physical activity behaviors, and the effect of educational programs and various forms of movement (e.g., yoga, strength training, aerobic exercise) on body image in children, adolescents, and college students. Anne has completed 200 hours of yoga teacher training and applies this knowledge to examine the effects of yoga on body image, affect, and physical activity motivation. Ultimately, her goal is to apply knowledge about motivational processes and body image to create positive physical activity experiences.
