Carol Gilligan

Carol Gilligan, PhD, is the author of In a Different Voice, described by Harvard University Press as “the little book that started a revolution.” Her other books include The Birth of Pleasure, Joining the Resistance, and Kyra: A Novel. Carol is also coauthor of Why Does Patriarchy Exist?, Darkness Now Visible: Patriarchy's Resurgence and Feminist Resistance, and The Crisis of Connection: Roots, Consequences and Solutions. At Harvard, she held the university’s first chair in gender studies. Carol is a professor at NYU, where she has initiated the Radical Listening Project. In 1996, she was named by Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential Americans for having “changed the voice of psychology,” and in 1997 she received a Heinz Award for her contributions to understanding the human condition.
