Celene Lizzio

Celene Ibrahim-Lizzio, MDiv, PhD(c), is the Islamic Studies Scholar-in-Residence, jointly appointed to the faculties of Andover Newton and Hebrew College. She codirects CIRCLE (Center for Inter-Religious and Communal Leadership Education), a nationally recognized center for training religious leaders with interreligious competencies. She lectures widely on topics including Qur’anic studies, Muslim feminist theology, and Islamic intellectual history. Celene holds degrees from Harvard, Princeton, and Brandeis, and has been recognized as a Harvard Presidential Scholar and a fellow in religion, diplomacy, and international relations at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. She serves as the Muslim chaplain at Tufts University, and is a doctoral candidate at Brandeis.
