Edwina Gateley
Edwina Gateley is a poet, theologian, artist, writer, lay minister, and modern-day mystic and prophet. Born in Lancaster, England, she holds a teaching degree, a master’s degree in theology from the Catholic Theological Union, and certification as an HIV counselor. From 1981 to 1982, Edwina lived for nine months in prayer and solitude in a hermitage in Illinois. In 1983, she spent more than a year on the streets of Chicago, Illinois, with the homeless and women involved in prostitution. She is the founder of Genesis House, a place of hospitality and nurturing for women involved in prostitution.
