Fadel Zeidan

Fadel Zeidan is an assistant professor of neurobiology at Wake Forest School of Medicine. He published some of the first papers delineating the brain processes supporting mindfulness meditation-based pain relief and has been teaching mindfulness meditation for more than 15 years. Fadel was awarded the National Institutes of Health’s Mitchell Max Award for Research Excellence for his work on mindfulness and pain and has presented his work to the Dalai Lama. The National Institutes of Health has also awarded a five-year, $2 million grant to Fadel for a project to determine the brain mechanisms involved in how mindfulness meditation impacts chronic low back pain. His research has appeared in Time magazine, CNN, the Wall Street Journal, NPR, and other outlets. His TEDxEmory presentation is titled “A Different Approach to Pain Management: Mindfulness Meditation.”​
