Issa Coulibaly

Issa Coulibaly is a master djembe drummer from Mali, West Africa. He earned a reputation as a mesmerizing vocalist and performer while touring Africa and Europe. Issa began studying the djembe and djun djun when he was 11 years old, in his home city of Bamako, Mali. Now living in the United States, he continues to travel, facilitating retreats and performing as the lead drummer and musical director for several African dance troupes, including Crocodile River Music’s troupe, Didakan. His debut CD, Foliba, highlights his flamboyant playing style, solid vocal skills, and original arrangements of traditional songs.
