John Tarrant

John Tarrant, Roshi, directs Pacific Zen Institute, which is devoted to koans, the arts, and awakening in the midst of American life. He is the author of Bring Me the Rhinoceros—and Other Zen Koans That Will Save Your Life, and The Light Inside the Dark: Zen, Soul, and the Spiritual Life. John is a poet, holds a doctorate in psychology, and teaches at Duke Integrative Medicine. He is interested in the connection between epiphanies and peak performance through meditation and is one of the most original minds in American Buddhism today.
