Lipi Roy

Lipi Roy, MD, is an internal physician board-certified in addiction medicine, and serves as clinical assistant professor at NYU Langone Health. As the former chief of addiction medicine for New York City jails, including Rikers Island, Lipi coordinated substance use treatment and recovery efforts at the nation’s second-largest jail complex. Previously, she was a primary care doctor to Boston’s vulnerable homeless population among whom the leading cause of death was drug overdose. Currently, she cares for patients at an addiction treatment center in New York City. Lipi has served the underserved in Nicaragua and India and worked with survivors of Hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti. She is passionate about educating and empowering the public through addiction awareness, nutrition, and mindfulness. As a writer, blogger, and frequent public speaker, she merges medicine with media to share patients’ extraordinary journeys and to have a positive impact, one person at a time.
