Neha Gothe

Dr. Neha Gothe is faculty in the Departments of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Science, and Applied Psychology at Northeastern University. She is the Director of the Exercise Psychology Lab and serves as the Assistant Dean for PhD Education in Bouve College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Gothe’s research agenda focuses on promoting physical activity, including nontraditional modes such as yoga, as a means to improve health, cognition, and quality of life. She is known for her work on yoga for cognition and developed and led the first randomized trial examining the effects of yoga on cognitive function among older adults. She is currently the principal investigator on the first NIH-funded yoga trial examining neurocognitive effects among older adults. She has published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers, presented at national and international conferences, and holds service positions at the Society of Behavioral Medicine. At her lab in Northeastern, Gothe mentors post-doctoral researchers, graduate, and undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in yoga and exercise research.
