Nellie Hermann

Nellie Hermann, MFA, author of the acclaimed novel, The Cure for Grief, received first prize in Glimmer Train’s 2008 Family Matters competition for her short story “Can We Let the Baby Go?” Her non-fiction has appeared in an anthology about siblings, Freud’s Blindspot, as well as in Academic Medicine and The Los Angeles Review of Books. Nellie is the creative director of the program in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University and has taught creative writing to undergraduates, medical students, graduate students, and clinicians of all sorts. She has also received distinguished residency invitations from The Millay Colony, The UCross Foundation, The Saltonstall Foundation of the Arts, and others. Her second novel, The Season of Migration, was published in 2015.
