
Ysaye Barnwell
Ysaye M. Barnwell, PhD, MSPH, holds advanced degrees in speech pathology and public health and is a composer whose works have been commissioned by dance troupes, choirs, films, and theater productions. She began studying violin with her father at age 2 and continued through high school. Ysaye sang with the a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock from 1979–2013. Two of her songs, “No Mirrors in My Nana’s House” and “We Are...” have been published as books for young readers.
