The Story You Have to Tell
Writing as an Act of Transformation
Join bestselling author Cheryl Strayed as she helps you tap into and express the stories you’ve lived, imagined, repeated, remembered, forgotten, or denied. Cheryl shares everything she knows about writing and living a creative life—from the elements of the writer’s craft to the barriers that keep you from fearlessly accessing your creative voice—to foster a supportive environment in which you can explore your own stories.
Through group and individual writing exercises, you will:
- Ignite your creativity.
- Write the stories you ache to tell.
- Share your work with others and go deeper into your own.
Whether your stories manifest as fiction, memoir, letters, journal entries, or poems, come learn how to write with courage, compassion, depth, and love. If you’re ready to share your truest, saddest, hardest, funniest, most interesting stories, this program is for you.
NOTE: This program is suitable for both new and seasoned writers. Please bring a notebook and pen for writing during program sessions. Given the popularity of this program, we anticipate a full room. All program sessions will be livestreamed online from the Kripalu campus.
NOTE: There will not be an in-person book signing during the program. If you would like to buy a signed book, you will be directed to purchase one in the Kripalu shop during your visit. Cheryl will sign all the pre-purchased books on Saturday evening, which participants can retrieve with a receipt in the program room at the end of the closing session on Sunday. We are not able to accept copies of books to be signed if they were not purchased at the Kripalu shop.
