Mary Bond

Mary Bond, MA, a Rolf Movement® coach, Registered Somatic Movement Educator, and emerita faculty of the Rolf Institute®, teaches a sensory approach for transforming posture, movement, and worldview internationally. Her book The New Rules of Posture has been translated into four languages. Her accessible teaching style turns fascia research and brain science into embodied and practical tools for healthy living. Mary’s message about the power of interoception and embodiment is an antidote to today’s culture of urgency and distraction, and her somatic philosophy is a perfect accompaniment to yoga and other body disciplines. Her most recent book is Your Body Mandala: Posture as a Path to Presence.

Resources

  • Posture, Perception, and People

Rather than advising clients about the set of their shoulders or the placement of their head, Rolf Movement® coach and Registered Somatic Movement Educator Mary Bond helps them discover an internal sense of balance, and presence with a capital P.

  • How Your Feet Affect Your Posture

In modern times, our feet have lost the capacity to receive intelligence from the ground and use it in support of the body, says Mary Bond, a Registered Somatic Movement Educator.

  • Reconceiving Our Bodies as Fascia

According to Rolf Movement® coach and Registered Somatic Movement Educator Mary Bond, fascia doesn't just connect us, it's the stuff we’re made of.

  • Fascia: Organ of Interoception

In this video, Mary Bond talks about how tapping into our interception—our built-in-personal guidance system—can support the practice of yoga, Pilates, and sports, as well as aging and managing stress.

  • Posture and Procrastination

According to Rolf Movement® coach and Registered Somatic Movement Educator Mary Bond, sitting posture (or any posture) isn’t just about active vs. passive, work vs. relaxation, sitting up straight vs. slouching. It’s about how present we are in any moment.

  • The Foot-Spine Link

Structural Integration practitioners like Mary Bond observe that the spiraling pattern of scoliosis radiates down through the legs and into the feet, and upward into the neck and cranium.
