Kumiko Kanayama

Presenter

Kumiko Kanayama is a shiatsu grandmaster and the founder of the Five Lights Center of Shiatsu, the longest-running shiatsu practice in the United States. Kumiko began practicing shiatsu during her childhood in Hiroshima, Japan, and comes from the lineage of legendary Japanese Buddhist monk Kúkai. She has learned from many healers in her family, including her grandmother, and spent decades studying with her uncle Wataru Ohashi, who opened the first school of shiatsu in the United States. Kumiko's insights have earned her a thriving practice at the Five Lights Center which has been featured in Insider, Authority Magazine, NY Weekly, Elephant Journal, Acupuncture Today, and more. She is currently expanding into hosting international shiatsu events and retreats.
