Bio
Antoinette Simms has been working in the health and wellness industry for over 30 years. She is an Integrated Yoga Therapist, A Kundalini Yoga Teacher and instructs many other styles of yoga. She currently facilitates yoga, meditation, mantra workshops and ecstatic dance classes. She is a former group fitness instructor, personal trainer and hip hop dance choreographer. Early in her career, Antoinette competed in body building competitions and was a fitness model. She was asked to join the musical artist 50 Cent and several other rap artists to offer her services as their on tour personal trainer, nutritional counselor and personal chef. She began practicing yoga in her early twenties and trained in Raja yoga with master yoga and martial arts teacher, Master Adam Nguyen while residing in Virginia Beach,Virginia for ten years. After yoga came into her life, her direction and course of life shifted and she came to Kripalu Center for Health in Lenox, Massachusetts in 2004 and stayed until 2008 first beginning as a SEVA volunteer and then as an on site Retreat and Renewal staff member.
During those years, she worked as a front desk registrar and as a scheduling and payroll coordinator for the then term Danskinetics staff. She trained in advanced Pranayama with Yoganand and took trainings and workshops with various visiting teachers such as Janice Clairfield (assisted and received a prenatal yoga certification), Anna Forest, Dan Millman, Angela Farmer, Alberto Villloldo (Four Winds training) Ray Crist (The Jaguar Path), Toni Bergins (Journey Dance instructor and presenter). She was on staff for six months in Salt Lake Springs/Ocala Florida with Amrit Desai working for his ashram as a yoga instructor/ecstatic dance teacher and and as his personal massage therapist.)
Currently, Antoinette is on the Retreat & Renewal faculty offering various levels of yoga classes, YogaDance, workshop facilitator and Mindful Outdoor Guide. She is also a Luminary presenter.
She was on staff at Canyon Ranch Spa in Lenox from 2011-2017 in the fitness/yoga/meditation/aquatic/dance department, during those six years she won yearly awards for the most positive guest comments, consistently coming in third place for the company.
Antoinette coowned a yoga/fitness/dance studio in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts for a year called Berkshire Body Kinection or BBK.
She has been on staff for the last ten years as a yoga/fitness/dance instructor at Berkshire Yoga Dance and Fitness in Pittsfield where she has earned awards such as studio MVP and Iron Woman Awards for being versatile and able to teach all of the various classes the studio offers as well as teaching and subbing the most number of classes.
She has served the local community as a yoga/dance instructor in the public school, private and corporate sectors. She has a seven year ongoing Senior chair yoga class and growing community in Stockbridge.
Her deepest desire is to use voice to heal herself and others. Antoinette has a single on Spotify, Rose Nectar. Both she and her 33 year old son Alyx are both veterans of the United States Navy. She served during the Gulf War.
