Bio
Gary Malkin is an Emmy Award–winning composer, speaker, facilitator, and arts activist dedicated to using music and emotionally resonant media to support healing, transformation, and human connection. His work bridges creativity, contemplative practice, and personal development, offering innovative ways for people to access presence, authenticity, and deeper meaning in their lives.
For over five decades, Gary has been immersed in the evolution of consciousness, beginning with early training in Gestalt therapy and Re-evaluation Counseling, and continuing through deep engagement with the human potential movement (such as EST and Landmark) in the San Francisco Bay Area. His path includes an early engagement with Buddhist Vipassana practice as well as participation in the early development of Spirit Rock Meditation Center.
As the co-creator of Graceful Passages: A Companion for Living and Dying (with Michael and Doris Stillwater), Gary helped pioneer a musically infused approach to grief, end-of-life care, and emotional integration. Since its release, he has presented and trained healthcare professionals and communities worldwide in grief literacy, compassionate presence, and the power of deep listening. Gary's work weaves together contemplative practice, emotional authenticity, relational connection, and immersive collective transformative musical experiences to help individuals cultivate greater coherence, resilience, and connection. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to harmonizing the wisdom of the heart and soul with the clarity of the rational mind, a synthesis he continues to share through workshops, keynote presentations, and his recent TEDx Talk on harmonizing our heart's wisdom with our mind's intellectual intelligence that he refers to as "Resonance Intelligence".
