Jaya Lakshmi began leading kirtan and writing her own devotional songs in the early 1990s, shortly after receiving harinam initiation from Srila Govinda Maharaj, a Vaishnava saint from West Bengal, India. She went on to create four solo chant albums on the Sequoia Records label and became the lead singer of the band Lost at Last. In 2010, she joined forces with Ananda, and they have released seven albums together. Together, they offer kirtan, healing mantra music, and kirtronica (kirtan and electronica fusion).
