Bio
Madeleine MacGillivray (she/her) is a lifelong climate justice advocate and microplastics-focused science communicator. She is the Climate Justice Program Lead at Seeding Sovereignty and the founder of Superheroes Needed, where she empowers individuals to go from inaction to “in action” by dreaming together to realize our climate superpowers using joy, deep self-reflection, and synergistic community building.
At 15, Madeleine was one of six youth plaintiffs as part of the Our Children’s Trust lawsuit, which sued the U.S. government and the EPA and reached the Supreme Court. She holds an M.S. in Sustainability Management at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies and a B.A. in Environmental Policy from Barnard. She has delivered keynote talks in Sydney, led workshops at Cornell and F.I.T., spoken at W.H.O., and hosted conversations for U.N. Fashion x Oceans. Madeleine passionately communicates complex environmental issues with creativity, compassion, and empathy.
