Akshay Anand

Dr. Akshay Anand is a professor in the Neuroscience Research Lab, Department of Neurology, and professor-in-charge, CCRYN Center for Mind Body Interventions through Yoga PGIMER, Chandigarh. He is also adjunct faculty in the Department of Philosophy at Panjab University and editor in chief of Annals of Neurosciences and Integrative Medicine Case Reports and the former editor of Integrative Medicine International. In addition to four patent applications—one for a biological regeneration agent—he has more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals. A sought-after mentor and international advisor, his research has been funded by various national agencies. Dr. Anand’s research interests range from understanding neuronal cell-survival mechanisms using in vitro, in vivo, genetic, and alternative approaches (mindfulness techniques) to discovering biomarkers of neurodegenerative disorders for clinical applications. Dr. Anand also serves on the Advisory Board of Harvard University and as a research activities advisor for Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Academy. His academic social activities, such as the prime minister’s Clean India program and Yoga Scholars PGIMER, have helped to cultivate increased awareness of preventive healthcare among students, colleagues, and science practitioners.
