Brynn Saito (she/her) is a poet, organizer, and associate professor of Creative Writing and English at California State University, Fresno, located on the traditional lands of the Yokuts and Mono peoples. She’s the author of three books of poetry, most recently Under a Future Sky (Red Hen Press, 2023). Brynn is a recipient of the 2023 California Arts Council’s Individual Artist Fellowship. Her first book of poems won the Benjamin Saltman Award and was a finalist for the Northern California Book Award. YMP uses art and storytelling to connect the WWII-era incarceration of the Japanese American community with current struggles for justice. Brynn’s poetry has appeared in the New York Times, the American Poetry Review, and was featured in the opening ceremony for The People’s Inauguration, a ten-day event inspiring collective action and healing led by activist Valarie Kaur.
